TEAMS: WELCOME TO THE 17th ANNUAL KEYS100®
The MILITARY TEAM competition returns! See below.
Registering your team:
The team captain creates the team, pays the full registration fee and registers as a runner. Then, additional team members may register. MINIMUM AGE to compete on a team is sixteen (16); exceptions require the approval of the Race Director. If a registered team member “drops” before race day, the captain may delete that member to make room for a new runner to register in their place. (See further details below.)
Team size & strategy:
100-mile team maximum is six (6) runners, but you may race with fewer. 50-mile team maximum is three (3), but a team of two is okay. Your decision. The team decides how many “legs” and how many miles each team member will run. These do not have to be the same and runners do not have to run in order. You will stop every few miles at approved locations only listed in “Meet-up Locations” to change runners. You may even change your race-day plan along the way if circumstances dictate. Race strategy is yours to decide, and part of the fun of racing KEYS100!
Military team competition:
May 17, 2025, is also "Armed Forces Day" in the U.S. On race day, military teams* will compete in the overall 100-mile team relay race AND against each other for special bragging rights! The winning military team will receive a special award and remain fully eligible for overall relay race awards, too. [*To be eligible, at least 5 team members must be on active duty and full-time.] When you create and register your 100-mile team, you will have the opportunity to select the military team option.
Self-sufficiency:
Relay teams are always self-sufficient. You are responsible for carrying all necessary supplies in the team vehicle, or purchasing them along the way—drinks, food and ice, equipment, and supplies that might be needed during the race. On the course there is lots of race support: staffed timing stations, medical team and race marshals, and others monitoring runner safety and rules compliance. There are stores and restaurants and portable toilets, but there are no race-sponsored aid stations offering food and drinks. Plan accordingly, and use resources available on the race website to help you prepare and organize before race weekend.
Vehicle:
Your team vehicle should be large enough to accommodate all necessary gear, allow room for luggage, and space for teammates to spread out while complying with strict rules regarding vehicle size and type. Read that standard very carefully and ask in advance if unsure if your vehicle qualifies.
Driver (optional):
Teams have the option of adding a dedicated driver or taking turns driving themselves. A team driver is not a runner and member of the team but is considered a dedicated team volunteer. ALL participants in the race must register, and that includes team drivers who will use the “Volunteer Registration” process to comply. Be sure to enter the name of the team being supported where requested to do so.
TEAM MEMBERS MAY REGISTER AFTER THE TEAM HAS BEEN CREATED AND FULLY REGISTERED BY CLICKING ON THE "RELAY REGISTRATION" BUTTON BELOW.
YOUR TEAM IS NOW CREATED AND THE CAPTAIN IS REGISTERED. Other team members may now be invited to join and complete their own registration by clicking on the "Relay Registration" button.

Racing in the Florida Keys is a lot of fun, but the cause of beating cancer is as serious as it gets and is an important component of the KEYS100. In that spirit, any relay team that collects paid donations for "The Cancer Foundation of the Florida Keys" in an amount equal to, or greater than, the targets listed below will have their race entry fee refunded in full.
100-mile or 50-mile relay team: At least four (4) times the scheduled registration fee—i.e., before any discounts: $3,960 for 100-mile teams and $1,980 for 50-mile teams.
Notify the race director of your accomplishment in order to generate the refund.
