Individual Runner Registration
Welcome to the 18th Annual KEYS100®
Self-Sufficiency
Runners and their support crews are responsible for carrying all necessary supplies in the support vehicle, or purchasing them along the way, including drinks, food, ice, equipment, and any other items needed during the race.
On the course there is race support including staffed timing stations, a medical team, Sheriff's deputies at road crossings, and race marshals who monitor runner safety and rules compliance.
There are stores, restaurants, and portable toilets along the route, but there are no race-sponsored aid stations offering food and drinks. Plan accordingly.
Minimum Age
The minimum age to compete in the individual races is 18. Exceptions may be considered in compelling circumstances, mainly appropriate and significant long-distance race experience. Contact the Race Director.
The Crew’s Job
The individual runner's crew will leap-frog their runner along the course, stopping every few miles at approved locations listed in Course Details & Meet-up Locations to provide the runner with water, food, ice, changes of clothes, nighttime gear, and other needed items.
Crew Must Register
Crew members are considered dedicated runner volunteers. All participants in the race must register using the Runner Crew registration process.
Be sure to enter the name of the runner being supported where requested. Pacers and any dedicated driver for an individual runner are considered crew and must register accordingly.
Crew Chief Must Be Designated by April 15
During registration, runners will be asked for the name of their crew chief. If you do not know it at that time, log in to your RunSignup account later and add that information.
Vehicle
Your support vehicle should be large enough to accommodate all necessary gear, luggage, crew members, and the runner if a break is needed, while still complying with strict rules regarding maximum vehicle size and type.
Read the vehicle size and type restrictions carefully and ask in advance if you are unsure whether your vehicle qualifies.
Runners May Share a Support Crew
Every runner in the individual races must be supported by a dedicated crew, although up to two runners may share one crew.
For that to work well, both runners should be of similar capability and must run together or within a reasonable distance of one another so the crew can remain effective.
Number of Runners Allowed for 2026
- Individual 100-mile race: 250
- Individual 50-mile race: 100
- Individual 50-kilometer race: 100
When an event is sold out, runners may join a waiting list. If a slot opens, runners on the waiting list will be notified by email and will have two days to accept before the next person is invited.

All registrants will be added to the race management mailing list to receive important race updates and information. Please add the Race Director to your address book: Bob Becker, [email protected]. You may unsubscribe at any time.
