Race Starts & Cut-Offs

KEYS100® - 2026

Starts are staggered with approximately twelve runners in each wave. Relay teams and individual runners start together. Assigned corrals leave every five minutes.

Start Format

KEYS100 uses staggered starts to help spread the field out along the course. Start time selection is first come, first served, so earlier registration gives runners a better selection of start time.

All finish times are net. Your clock starts when your wave crosses the starting line timing mat and ends when you reach the finish line.

For team races, groups of approximately twelve runners begin together, with a new group leaving every five minutes. Register early for the best start-time options.

Official Time Limits

  • 100-Mile Individual and Team Races: 32 hours
  • 50-Mile Individual and Team Races: 20 hours
  • 50-Kilometer Race: 12 hours

Anyone not finishing within the allowable time for their race distance, or missing an interim cutoff, will be considered DNF and must remove their race bib, surrender it to a race marshal, and remove race markings from their support vehicle.

100-Mile Interim Cut-Offs

The following interim cutoff times apply to 100-mile runners and teams and are enforced without regard to start time:

Location Mile Marker Cut-Off Time
Marathon timing station MM50 11:00pm
West end of Seven Mile Bridge timing station MM40 2:00am
Summerland Key timing station MM25 7:00am
Missing any interim cutoff or the final race time limit ends your participation in the race.

Planning Note

Use your assigned start time, net timing, and the interim cutoff schedule when building your crew and pacing plan.
